2022 Symposium on Infection Prevention & Control FAQs
Q: Who is developing this Symposium?
A: Healthcare Hygiene magazine/Keystone Media Inc. has developed this three-day virtual event.
Q: Is the symposium virtual?
A: Yes, 100 percent online.
Q: Will the event be made available beyond Nov. 1-3, 2022?
A: Yes, the symposium will be available on demand 24/7 through Feb. 3, 2023. If you are a registered user, you may return to the symposium platform as much as you’d like within that time.
Q: How much does it cost to attend?
A: Symposium attendance is free for clinicians actively practicing in infection prevention and epidemiology, with seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $75 per registration for manufacturers, consultants, and other healthcare stakeholders, ad administrative fee levied by Healthcare Hygiene magazine/Keystone Media Inc., the producer of this event. For registration fee details, send an email to: team@keystonemediainc.com
Q: How do I participate in the Symposium?
A: You must be a registered participant to attend the Symposium.
Q: How do I RSVP?
A: Prospective attendees will complete the RSVP form and be added to our waitlist prior to the beginning of the event on Nov. 1, 2022. Once your registration is approved, you will be provided with a link that will take you to the Symposium platform. You will enter the Virtual Lobby, where you may learn more about the Symposium’s slate of educational sessions, read about the speakers, bookmark sessions of interest, network with other attendees, watch videos from our education partners, download materials, etc.
Q: How do I watch the sessions?
A: Once your registration has been approved, you will be sent a confirmation email containing the link you will use to gain access to the Symposium platform. Check the agenda for days and times, and then access the sessions through the same access link provided in your registration confirmation email.
Q: What if I have a technical issue?
A: We want you to have a trouble-free experience, but sometimes things happen. There are some steps that you can take to ward off any potential glitches. Prior to participating in the symposium, please check with your institution’s information technology (IT) staff to determine if there are any firewalls that could potentially interfere with your viewership; sometimes watching at your residence instead of your place of employment can be easier, for this reason. Using Chrome as your browser offers the smoothest Internet experience. Temporarily disable any pop-up blockers, as we use this function to relay important information throughout the symposium. If your screen freezes or buffers, we suggest refreshing it by hitting the F5 key. Using a wired Internet connection as opposed to wireless can help eliminate these issues. Most of all, don’t panic, as all the sessions will be available on-demand for the next 90 days, so you won’t miss anything. If you get stuck, please email: kelly@healthcarehygienemagazine.com. There is also a Troubleshooting button at the top of the event platform.
Q: Will I be able to ask questions?
A: Yes. You will be able to chat with other attendees in the symposium virtual lobby. In addition, you can submit questions for the presenters via the chat function in each session, and they will answer them as soon as possible.
Q: How do I visit the education partners’ virtual rooms?
A: In the Virtual Lobby, you may click on any of the educational partners’ virtual rooms to explore the materials available for download, videos to watch, etc.
Q: How do I earn my contact hours of continuing education?
A: You must watch an entire session and look for the opportunity to be taken to the CE test. You will be asked to register on FlexiQuiz, the CE portal associated with this Symposium, where you will be able to store and share your test grades, certificates, etc.
Q: How do I get my CE certificate(s)?
A: You must watch each session completely, take the 10-question true/false test associated with each session, and pass with a grade of 80 percent or better. You will have five attempts to take each test. Once you pass the test, you will be able to view, download, print and store your certificate on our FlexiQuiz CE portal.
Q: What entities accept these contact hours?
A: These contact hours are designed to meet sterile processing technicians’ certification and nurses’ licensure requirements in the United States. They are approved by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as well as the California Board of Registered Nurses, via Keystone Media Inc.’s provider number. You will need to inquire about acceptance of our contact hours with any other entity that is not the HSPA or a nursing licensure board.
Q: How long are the contact hours valid?
A: The contact hours we issue are valid for two years from the date of issuance and will expire in November 2024.
